The Cubs became scientists for two weeks while working towards their Scientist activity badge.

During the first week we were joined by a Science educator, Dr Rosie Coates, who explained the Scientific method to the Cubs and then got them started on an experiment to find out how plants drink. Over the course of the evening they built their own torches, tested the PH level of various substances and dissolved cuttlefish bones in hydrochloric acid.

During the second week the Cubs finished off the plants drinking test. They also tested what happened to their heart beat during exercise, found out whether objects float or sink in fresh and salty water, discovered which way round they were built and learnt how important their thumbs were. All of the Cubs who attended both meetings earned their badge.
