We had a fantastic weekend at the Cub World County Camp. We took 52 Cubs, 25 adults and 3 Scouts with us to  Queensford Lakes in Berinsfield, to join more than 1,500 other Cubs adults.

After getting our (somewhat cramped) tents up on the Thursday evening, we arrived on Friday in sunshine and made our way to the central area for an evening of entertainments. What with closely-packed noisy Cubs and the road running withing 2 metres of the camp site, no-one got very much sleep, but we all got up ready for an action packed day on Saturday.

Oxford Spires were representing North America and we had decided to be the USA, with food themed to match: we had a delicious breakfast of pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. Once we'd eaten and washed up the Cubs set off to the air zone to have some fun. Activities included a climbing tower, a flight simulator, laser tag, kite making, rocket firing, aeroplane construction and Lego construction.

After a sandwich lunch back at our campsite we got changed into our water gear and set off for the sea zone. With a range of boating activities (including kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle boards, dragon boats and pedalos) we filled the first hour, before moving on to the Wet n Wild obstacle course. We then had some time for more boating and water sliding before heading back to camp to dry off.

Dinner was a delicious and very American meal of burgers, chips and corn on the cob with chocolate brownies, cookies, apple pie and cream to finish. We then got into our costumes and joined the parade to the central area for the evening entertainments: a talk from Ed Stafford, a magic show, a fire show and live music. The Cubs were exhausted and slept much better with almost no noise after 11pm or before 6.30 am.

We awoke to a breakfast of a sausages, eggs, hash browns and baked beans to prepare us for a morning in the land zone - with slack lines, dodgems, an inflatable obstacle course and a circus skills workshop.

We had lunch back at camp before heading back to the arena for our 2 pm closing ceremony. Thank you to everyone on the Cub World team, who enabled our Cubs to have such a fantastic experience!
