2-3 February 2019: District Sixer and Seconder Camp

We had nine of our ten Sixer and Seconders on this fantastic camp for older Cubs, held at our HQ in Kidlington.

The camp began at 9am on a very chilly (snowy, icy ...) Saturday morning. The Cubs were split into teams and learnt everything that they needed to know about map reading and navigation.

After lunch they completed a number of bases in their teams, including map making, tracking, a map quest, and a treasure hunt to Tesco (to buy dinner supplies) visiting different roads along the way.

Back at the Scout HQ it was time for some games before the Cubs cooked up some amazing feasts. Once clearing up from dinner was complete the Cubs got ready for bed and snuggled down to watch a movie.

The next morning was cold (still snowy and icy!) but very sunny; after a good breakfast the Cubs found out all about what to take on a day hike before mapping out their hike route. In their teams they walked about 5 miles, with a lunch stop in a field along the way - amazingly the snow had melted in the lunch field, though not anywhere else.

Back at the Scout HQ it was time for the closing ceremony, with prizes for the winning team.

Thank you to everyone who took part and all the adults who helped make it such a wonderful camp!
