19 December 2013: Great Big Christmas Party

We finished off the Autumn term with our traditional Great Big Christmas Party at 10th Oxford in Marston. Numbers were slightly down on previous years, with only about 55 Cubs to entertain this year, instead of 70! We began with a giant game of musical chairs before splitting into teams for three relay races: an egg and spoon style stocking filler, a three legged race with giant Christmas stockings and a candy-cane passing game, transferring candy canes between fingers along a line.

We then spread out into a big circle for a huge six-dice version of the chocolate game (if you throw a six you can go and chop off a piece of chocolate to eat) before finishing with a mass pass-the-parcel.

We finished the evening on a high, with two Chief Scout’s Silver Awards and presentation of woggles, badges and certificates to the Blue Six, who were winners of the Autumn term Six point competition again. We’ll be seeing the 10th again for an Easter evening at Youlbury in April and a medieval themed camp in May.
