Kit list - Sixer and Seconder camp

Please label all items clearly with your Cubs name - you may not get back any unlabelled items!

Required kit
  • Full Uniform (please arrive in this)
  • Small rucksack containing:
    • Water bottle
    • Empty lunchbox
  • Rucksack or kit bag (try and keep it as compact as possible - anything that doesn't fit inside should be securely attached) containing:
    • Carry mat/thin airmattress/thick blanket (but NOT an airbed) - Cubs will be very cold without this layer beneath them but there's no space for a full sized airbed and they will not be permitted to use this
    • Sleeping bag and small pillow
    • Pyjamas
    • Waterproof jacket (and ideally trousers too)
    • Warm jacket or fleece
    • Hat and gloves - even if its warm, these may be appreciated at night
    • Change of jumper, T-shirt and trousers/shorts
    • Change of underwear and socks (plus spare pairs)
    • Trainers
    • Indoor shoes or slippers
    • Waterproof shoes for hiking (not wellington boots)
    • Personal wash kit (soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, flannel etc) and small towel
    • Torch and batteries
    • Cheap watch (if you have one)
    • Cuddly friend
    • Plastic bags for dirty/wet items
  • Cakes or biscuits to share with everyone (please hand to a leader on arrival)
Equipment Notes
  • Packing: Please get your Cub to pack their own kit: this way they will know where everything is and the leaders will have to spend less time tracking down torches/pyjamas/toothbrushes in the dark!
  • Sleeping Bags: When choosing a sleeping bag remember that synthetic filled bags are easier to clean than natural filling and just as warm. Zips can be very cold if no baffle is fitted.
  • Warm Wear: A number of layers is warmer than one thick one and the warmth can be regulated more easily - do not forget your hands and head.
  • Torch: Don't pack your torch at the bottom of your kit as it can easily get accidentally turned on and you will arrive at the camp with flat batteries. Make sure it can be easily found in the dark.
  • Books/comics: Cubs are welcome to bring books, comics, drawing books, pens, pencils etc to use during free time (and when they wake up very early and dont want to disturb their leaders)
  • Electronics: Please do not bring any expensive electronic items that may get lost or damaged (eg mobile phone, CD player, MP3 player, Nintendo DS, PSP)
  • Snacks in kit: Please do not put any sweets/snacks in your Cubs bag: they are not allowed to have these in their sleeping quarters (they cause fights, leave mess and can attract insects/rodents). If any such items are found will be added to the general camp supplies and shared between all of the Cubs - feel free to bring items along and hand them to a leader.
