District Boot & Compass Challenge (24 March 2013)

This is an orienteering competition, but without any maps. Cubs are given a bearing to head along and they run from base to base collecting letters and numbers. Basic compass skills are required but will be taught during the meeting immediately before the event. Please be aware that it is always very muddy; however, do not send your Cub in welly boots as this makes it almost impossible to run - old trainers are best.

We need some extra adults to help man the bases so please let me know if you are able to stay and help out.

Please submit the form below by Friday 15 March 2013 to confirm your Cub's attendance.

Location: Bernwood Forest, Stanton St John
Cost: Free

Start: 1.30pm
Finish: 4.30pm

What to wear: Uniform jumper and scarf, trousers that can get wet and muddy, trainers or other comfortable shoes that can get wet and muddy (no welly boots!)
What to bring: Change of shoes/trousers for the journey home (if you don't want your car covered in mud), pencil, compass if you have one (we will lend one if not), bottle of water and snack (all in a small rucksack)
